Case Review

Independent Forensic Services provides forensic experts for the critical appraisal and evaluation of reports, case files and source documents in relation to forensic biology, DNA analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis and crime scene examination. We will provide high quality and timely advice, resulting in a report that is easy to understand for non-scientific audiences.

We have the ability to:

• assess if all appropriate examinations have been conducted
• provide an expert opinion in relation to the significance of the evidence within the context of the case
• assist in providing appropriate lines of questioning for expert witnesses
• appear in court as an expert witness
• attend laboratories for examination or re-examination of items
• analyse or re-analyse DNA samples
• interpret DNA evidence, including complex mixed DNA profiles through the use of STRmix™

Note that STRmix™ software is now the preferred tool for complex mixed DNA profile evaluation and is used throughout Australia and New Zealand.  Independent Forensic Services now has the ability to access this software on a case by case basis in order to provide a comprehensive independent review of the DNA evidence.
